Mallard Productions were commissioned by FRNDS MGMT to film the Live DMA’S performance at the Glasgow Barrowlands Ballroom.
The DMA’S are an Australian rock band from Sydney, New South Wales. The band are known for their songs such as Silver, Step Up the Morphine and Lay Down, however they gained initial attraction from their debut single Delete in 2014.
The Barrowlands is a great concert venue, not only known for its renowned neon sign, but also for its strong acoustics and sprung dance floor. Many major artists have performed at the venue, including David Bowie, Oasis, The Smiths, The Clash, The Vatersay Boys and many others. We have plenty of previous experience of working at the Barrowlands, as we filmed The Symphonix Rock Orchestra in 2022, the Scottish Music Awards in 2021 and plenty of other acts over the years.
We filmed and edited a variety of songs that the DMA’S performed, such as Olympia, Everyone’s Saying Thursday’s The Weekend, and I Don’t Need To Hide. To film the performance, our film crew consisted of 5 camera operators, and we also provided a camera platform. The camera crew followed the musicians, and included angles from the front and rear of the stage, and at the back of the crowd to highlight the energetic atmosphere of the venue.
The video featuring their song Olympia received a strong positive reaction on YouTube, with many viewers taking to the comments to express their love for the band and their performance.
