For the past fifteen years, we have worked with our friends at JSL Productions to produce high quality coverage of their annual event, Folk by the Oak.
Folk by the Oak is a folk music festival held in Hatfield Park, which brings together folk lovers for a day of music, history, and fun and laughter among ancient oak trees within the Elizabeth Oak Field.
The festival has been running since 2008, and are coming up for their 17th year this July. Folk by the Oak not only showcases the best well known folk musicians, but additionally creates a space for new talent to perform. Beyond the music, the festival prides itself on its friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The Elizabeth Oak Field, in which the festival takes place, provides a stunning rolling landscape that heightens the impression of freedom that the festival strives to create.
Mallard Productions has produced a promotional film each year, capturing a collection of footage of the music itself, the dynamic atmosphere, and the wide array of activities held at the festival. We have used a variety of equipment at these events from drones to gimbals to cinema cameras and timelapse cameras.
Not only does the festival provide an electric atmosphere by their high calibre of performers, but also supports their local charity Willow, an organisation who provide days out for seriously ill young adults. In total, Folk by the Oak have raised over £104,000 for Willow through ticket contributions, donations from the crowd on the day, and an abundance of further generous donations. It is great to see the positive impact that the event has had on not only folk lovers, but on the wider community.
