Mallard Productions were honoured to be chosen as an official supplier for the UCI Cycling World Championships 2023.
In the first event of its kind, 8000 athletes from 132 countries came together for the largest ever cycling event in history. 13 different disciplines were packed into a 11-day schedule that took place across the whole of Scotland.
Throughout the year we produced a host of promotional films to raise the profile of the event and get spectators excited about cycling, and when August finally came, over 1 million spectators arrived in Scotland to witness the country’s biggest sporting event since the Commonwealth Games.
We provided several camera crews that travelled the length and breadth of the country to capture content for our dedicated edit team, who were working on location, from the UCI Head Quarters and from our own studios. The team were producing same-day-edits for various social media platforms, working closely with the BBC and other broadcasters, and were also supplying content for a live daily show under the ‘Squiggly Bike TV’ brand. With record breaking viewing figures it was important that the quality of content produced was of an extremely high standard. We supplied all our own crew and equipment to ensure a consistency of style and quality across all the films that we produced.
The Championships were an enormous success and there were almost 90 million views of different videos published across the UCI’s various channels. By the end of the event, the UCI’s social media audience had grown to over 5.1 million followers. This was a fantastic event to be part of and we were delighted to be selected by UCI to produce this content.
