We were commissioned by the University of Strathclyde to create a video for the Advanced Forming Research Centre’s (AFRC) AirCapability Service, through Catapult.
AirCapability is a reimagined way for designers and manufacturers to access state of the art equipment across the UK. They can connect designers, engineers, and researchers from all over the UK, to enable more choice and access for suppliers and manufacturers.
AirCapability comes with a variety of benefits, as it can be beneficial in reducing capital investment for smaller enterprises, and to maximise return on investment on expensive machinery for larger industries. It allows supply chain networks to effectively utilise the skills of others.
This is the only High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult centre in Scotland, and only one of seven in the UK. The HVM Catapult is an alliance of manufacturing research centres, supported by Innovate UK. It acts as the catalyst for the growth and success of UK advanced manufacturing.
For this project, we created an animation that would be both engaging and energetic, but also easily educate the viewer about the services offered. We created a map of the UK, and dynamically moved over the map highlighting the possible service connections available through AirCapability. We incorporated the theme of manufacturing into the animation, as the majority of the design was in blueprint style, which really brings the video to life and gives it character.
