Guide Dogs for the Blind

Guide Dogs is a charity dedicated to helping and improving the quality of life of people with sight loss. 180,000 people with sight loss rarely leave home alone, which is why the work of Guide Dogs is so important. The charity is funded almost entirely through donations, as puppies can be sponsored from eight-weeks-old until they are a fully qualified guide dog, ready to give freedom and support to someone with a vision impairment.

In December 2020, Guide Dogs held their very first Christmas Wishes Virtual Event. After the uncertainty that the pandemic brought, Guide Dogs decided to cancel their annual Christmas event and instead host an evening online filled with yuletide cheer and heart-warming stories.

We were commissioned to create an animation to promote Guide Dogs’ event. The animation highlights different service users coming together as part of the Guide Dogs Family, ready to watch the event and spread Christmas joy from their home. We firstly created storyboards to understand the vision and direction of the project, and created characters and backgrounds to adhere to Guide Dogs’ branding. We wanted to create something colourful and upbeat, and to incorporate the festive period within the video, therefore we added some winter comforts, such as snow, Christmas decorations, mince pies and a cosy fire. We were additionally responsible for the music and SFX within the animation.

We are always thrilled to work with charity organisations, and glad we could provide Guide Dogs with a joyful animation for their Christmas Wishes Virtual Event.
