Checkout Scotland

Mallard Productions were delighted to be selected by Grocery Aid to produce a short promotional film for their flagship event, Checkout Scotland.

Over 1,000 colleagues from independent retailers, wholesalers, national supporters and home-grown brands all came together to celebrate the work of Scotland’s grocery industry. The event took place at Glasgow’s Barras Art & Design. It’s a fantastic venue that we know very well and have enjoyed producing several films at over the years. It was the second time that Checkout Scotland had taken place and the aim was to create an exciting, fast paced promo video that would reflect the vibrancy and energy of the event.

The roster of acts performing included Example, B*Witched and The Supernaturals. It was important for us to focus not just on the performers but also the vibe and the atmosphere. Our camera crew got stuck in amongst the crowd and we feel we managed to capture a good selection of shots that shows off the party atmosphere.

It was a great event and was a lot of fun to be part but there is a more serious side. Checkout Scotland also raises money for the charity Grocery Aid. For over 160 years they have provided financial support and practical assistance for people who work or have worked in the grocery industry. This includes support and guidance on health and wellbeing, personal issues, benefits, career, housing and legal issues.

Checkout Scotland is now established as a regular fixture in the event’s calendar and will be taking place once again in Glasgow on Thursday 5th September 2024.
