The Scottish Music Awards, sponsored by Specsavers, are hosted annually to celebrate the talents of Scottish musicians and recognise their achievements and contributions to the Scottish Music Industry. The event was held at SWG3, an iconic Glasgow venue which has facilitated some of the country’s biggest events, although without an audience due to COVID regulations at the time.
Hosted by Nordoff and Robbins, the UK’s largest music therapy charity, these awards also raise funds for music therapy which offers a platform for expression and connection. The charity provides music therapy to vulnerable people up and down the whole of the UK as well as providing training for therapists. Nordoff and Robbins have since held almost fifty thousand music therapy sessions and reached almost fourteen thousand people.
Due to filming constraints imposed by the pandemic we had just one single operator who controlled the cameras and mix for this performance. One camera was placed on a robotic slider which moved back and forth whilst panning, tilting and focusing to keep a consistent focal point. Another 5 cameras were placed around to capture the artists from a variety of angles.
Artists filmed included Amy MacDonald, Wet Wet Wet, Gun and Kitti. We were back the following year when the event took place at the iconic Glasgow Barrowlands.
