ADDLIB – Chivas Brothers

We were commissioned by ADDLIB to produce a promotional video for Scotland’s first all-electric tractor unit. Chivas Brothers, one of Scotland’s leading Scotch whisky producers, distributing brands such as Ballantine’s and Glenlivet, partnered with Volvo Trucks to transport their products using a more environmentally friendly method.
The truck itself is a Volvo FM Electric 6×2 tractor unit specified to transport Scotland’s biggest export, Scotch whiskey. The truck itself can carry approximately 24 tonnes of whisky per journey, and will travel around 62,000 miles per year. The truck will additionally decrease Chivas Brothers’ carbon emissions by 155 tonnes per annum to work towards the business’ previous commitment to reducing its overall carbon footprint by 50% by 2023.

The filming was conducted over one day in Kilmalid, and collected footage from both the interior and exterior of the truck. The video itself contains footage shot by gimbals, with slow motion and close up shots of the vehicle. We also collected drone footage of the truck setting off, and tight crops of the truck that would generate intrigue for viewers.

We have experience working with Volvo vehicles, and have previously produced an advert for Volvo Strathmore Showroom in Perth. Similar to this video, for the Volvo commercial we used a mixture of vehicle mounted cameras and UAVs (drones) to track each car.

We are always pleased to work with clients that implement measures to promote environmental sustainability within their brands. This is a great step towards Chivas Brothers’ net-zero goal, and we were happy to be a part of it. They have also implemented further sustainable transport methods, such as a collection of six circular bio-gas trucks and 19 site-based shunt vehicles; around half of which are currently piloting hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel.
