Mallard Productions are proud to have been commissioned for a video on behalf of Deaf Action, a charity that supports and celebrates deaf people in the South of England and Scotland.
Established in 1835, Deaf Action have been empowering deaf people for almost one hundred and forty years. As a deaf-led charity, they are able to understand and enable deaf people to reach their full potential. Deaf Action ensure deaf people are being given equal opportunities, through services such as social care, supported accommodation, counselling and offering lip speakers, interpreters and notetakers. As well as this, they also offer courses on British Sign Language, digital training, lipreading and deaf awareness. The work that Deaf Action provide is vital to ensuring an equal and fair society.
The advert was shot over a single day in three different locations (a doctors office, Deaf Action HQ and a home setting). It was really important for us to adopt a naturalistic approach and a lot of the people within this video actively engage with Deaf Action on a regular basis. We were very fortunate to have some great people featured in the advert and it was a lot of fun to make! The advert was screened on SKY TV.
We’ve since been involved with Deaf Action on a variety of other projects including the Edinburgh International Deaf Festival which we would strongly recommend heading down to if you’ve never been before. It’s a wonderful charity and we always love being involved.
